CoVid has provided my wife and I an opportunity to take our boat NoraJ on a long coastal passage to Queensland. Prior to CoVid we were usually employed on a catamaran on the Mediterranean and didn’t have the time. We now do and Sue has six months leave so follow us on our adventures from Docklands Melbourne to were the wind takes us.
Preparing for such a trip requires NoraJ to be shipshape and seaworthy which she always is and because we will be offshore, we have also made further safety and general improvements. They include: – AIS transceiver and you can follow NoraJ on “MarineTraffic” along the coast and into the ports. VHF radio with DSC and Lat/Long display and a spare aerial if we lost the mast. EPIRB for the boat and an AIS personal transceiver for the crew on deck. Lifejackets that can be tethered to the deck in foul weather.
